Lucia Mamani has been a member of Agricafe's (agricafe.com.bo) Sol de la Mañana program since 2015. The program provides agricultural and market assistance to farmers in the Caranavi region, providing agronomy training to help increase the quantity and quality of coffee from the area. The emphasis is on the quality of the coffee foremost. Increased plant nutrition, better pruning practices, and precise harvesting, all lead to an improvement in coffee quality for which the farmers receive a higher premium. These factors also naturally lead to an increase in productivity, so the farmers benefit from the program on both fronts. The farm was established by Lucia’s late husband Valeria Uluri in 1987 and Lucia has been managing the farm with her son and daughter-in-law since 2016. The farm is now ten hectares and alongside the coffee Lucia grows citrus, banana, potatoes and yucca.

Grind Guide

Cafetière

A coarse grind also suitable for cold brew. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot.

Aeropress slow

Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes. Similar to our paper filter setting.

Filter

This is suitable for our paper filters and ceramic or plastic cones, along with other brands such as V60, Clever dripper and Melitta.

Stovetop

This is an espresso style grind suitable for use in hob top espresso pots such as a Bialetti or Grunwerg. Sometimes referred to as a moka pot.

Aeropress fast

This is also an espresso style grind ideal for brewing a short, concentrated, espresso style coffee in an Aeropress.

Domestic espresso

A fine grind for using in your home espresso machine. Grind requirements will vary depending on brand and model, but this setting aims to work for the majority of home setups.
