About
Silverio Nina continues his varietal project on his farm Finca Oro Verde. He has three main cultivars in production: Caturra, Catuaí, and Java. Silverio plans to add Gesha and Ethiosar (both Ethiopian varietals) at the highest altitude areas of the farm. Using many varietals gives Silverio great diversity in both flavour and productivity, which means he can use the best suited varietal for different areas of the farm, and he still has a good crop if weather conditions favour one varietal over another in any given year. Silverio follows a strict pruning protocol which also helps bring crop consistency across the years. Silverio is a keen dancer of Morenada, an Andean folk dance practiced in the Yungas region. He leads the folk group rehearsals ahead of the local and regional festivities in August.
