Finca Oro Verde (Green Gold Farm) is in Copacabana, a village around thirty minutes from Caranavi. After working in road construction and waste collection, Silverio Nina started coffee farming in 2007. Silverio grew up watching his father and grandfather grow coffee and had a good knowledge base coming into the industry and he has added to this experience with help from Agricafe’s Sol de la Mañana program. This program helps local farmers improve the quality and quantity of their coffee with agricultural and agronomy training. Silverio has planted Caturra for its cup profile, Catuaí for its productivity, and Java for its ease of harvest and sweetness. The farm is five hectares in size, three are planted with coffee and two are leased to the local primary school for their use. Silverio currently lives in Caranavi and has plans to build a house at his farm in the future.

Grind Guide

Cafetière

A coarse grind also suitable for cold brew. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot.

Aeropress slow

Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes. Similar to our paper filter setting.

Filter

This is suitable for our paper filters and ceramic or plastic cones, along with other brands such as V60, Clever dripper and Melitta.

Stovetop

This is an espresso style grind suitable for use in hob top espresso pots such as a Bialetti or Grunwerg. Sometimes referred to as a moka pot.

Aeropress fast

This is also an espresso style grind ideal for brewing a short, concentrated, espresso style coffee in an Aeropress.

Domestic espresso

A fine grind for using in your home espresso machine. Grind requirements will vary depending on brand and model, but this setting aims to work for the majority of home setups.
