Our Coffees Finca San Gabriel

Finca San Gabriel
Gabriel Chura

Maple syrup and persimmon with soft acidity and medium to creamy body – medium roast

We chose this lot of Catuai on our last trip to Agricafe in Bolivia. Agricafe's Sol de Mañana program provides agricultural and market assistance to farmers in the Caranavi region with the aim to provide farmers with agronomy training and help increase the quantity and quality of coffee from this area. Gabriel and Alicia Chura live at their farm with their three children. The farm is ten hectares in area and has almost two planted with coffee, as well as citrus, cassava and potatoes for the local markets. There are plans to grow more coffee and the nursery is filled with Catuai at different stages of growth ready to be planted out over the next few years. Over the last few years, with the help of Agricafe, Gabriel and Alicia have learnt more about coffee pest and disease control on the farm and processing. As the trees mature over the next few years, they will learn more about pruning and productivity. This is where the benefits of the Sol de Mañana program are noticeable; Agricafe have some of South America’s best agronomists helping the farmers with which they work develop their skills and knowledge.
