Caranavi

Hipolito Uluri learnt coffee growing from his father and has been farming since the 1990s. He grows coffee and citrus for the local markets and is a member of Agricafe's (agricafe.com.bo) Sol de Mañana program. The program provides agricultural and market assistance to farmers in the Caranavi region with the aim of providing agronomy training to help increase the quantity and quality of coffee from the area. Before joining the program Hipolito and Carmin’s production was 120kg of parchment-covered coffee per hectare, with the skills and knowledge they have gained from Agricafe they have been able to increase this to 1200kg per hectare, which makes an enormous difference to the family’s quality of life and the opportunities for their children. Better pruning and plant nutrition have been the major changes that have helped with this increase of productivity and all new plots are carefully planned to avoid plant competition for nutrients and sunlight.

Grind Guide

Cafetière

A coarse grind also suitable for cold brew. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot.

Aeropress slow

Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes. Similar to our paper filter setting.

Filter

This is suitable for our paper filters and ceramic or plastic cones, along with other brands such as V60, Clever dripper and Melitta.

Stovetop

This is an espresso style grind suitable for use in hob top espresso pots such as a Bialetti or Grunwerg. Sometimes referred to as a moka pot.

Aeropress fast

This is also an espresso style grind ideal for brewing a short, concentrated, espresso style coffee in an Aeropress.

Domestic espresso

A fine grind for using in your home espresso machine. Grind requirements will vary depending on brand and model, but this setting aims to work for the majority of home setups.

For use in your home grinder!
