Profile

SL28 seeds were first germinated at Malacara A in 2015. These seedlings developed into full trees from which the next seedstock was collected, germinated, and planted out on plot (tablón) five. Most farms will have coffee nurseries and development plots of their own, but there is still a thriving market in seedstock and seedlings. Each year, the farm will select coffee fruit from the middle branch sections of particularly well performing trees. The fruit is processed to seed and sold, or germinated into tiny plants, and then sold. Every farm requires new seed every year to grow onto mature trees which replace older less productive plants. We will have this shipment of Tablón 5 until around the beginning of November when it will be replaced on the counter by the Red Bourbon from Malacara.
