Region

Hoja Blanca, Huehuetenango

Finca Bella Vista is owned and farmed by the Castillo Villatoro family. Don Felino and Doña Carmela started farming coffee in the 1960s in La Libertad, in the North of Guatemala. Their children Arcenio, Edwin, and Wilmar, all emigrated to the USA in the early 2000s to work and save money with the idea of returning to Guatemala to farm coffee as a family. The three brothers worked digging roads for fibreoptic cable installation. Their dream was to buy land in Hoja Blanca, the area where Doña Carmela grew up. On return to Guatemala, the three brothers settled at the farm and began to take over the farming and the processing. Over the last few years, the family have focussed on producing the highest quality coffee. Their efforts have paid off, with coffees placing in the last four Guatemalan Cup of Excellence competitions, culminating in winning last year.

Grind Guide

Cafetière

A coarse grind also suitable for cold brew. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot.

Aeropress slow

Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes. Similar to our paper filter setting.

Filter

This is suitable for our paper filters and ceramic or plastic cones, along with other brands such as V60, Clever dripper and Melitta.

Stovetop

This is an espresso style grind suitable for use in hob top espresso pots such as a Bialetti or Grunwerg. Sometimes referred to as a moka pot.

Aeropress fast

This is also an espresso style grind ideal for brewing a short, concentrated, espresso style coffee in an Aeropress.

Domestic espresso

A fine grind for using in your home espresso machine. Grind requirements will vary depending on brand and model, but this setting aims to work for the majority of home setups.

Whole beans

For use in your home grinder!

If you use a different method such as a syphon or Chemex, require a custom grind or need some advice, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
