This lot was put together by our local exporter Cultivar in Jaén with coffee delivered to them by the following eight producers: Elde Carahupoma, Manuel Villanueva, Emma Rioja, Bilmer Fernández, Wilmer Cubas Vásquez, Elver Coronel, Wilson Banda and Agustina Villanueva.
Their farms average 0.5 hectares at an altitude between 1,700 – 2,000 metres above sea level. During our recent visit to the Cultivar lab in Jaén we were thrilled about the flavour profiles delivered by these producers from the Huabal district. The harvest in Jaén starts from mid-June and extends until mid-October. This is the second year we have selected a lot from this region, and we’re delighted to have Wilmer Cubas Vásquez from the El Romerillo farm, Emma Rioja from her farm Guayacán and Manuel Villanueva contributing again to this lot. The producers also grow different types of tubers, such as yuca and arracachas, corn, beans and fruit trees intercropped with coffee. Cattle and dairy farming are also present in a smaller scale.
